In this specialization, you will:

This cybersecurity fundamentals course provides learners with the foundational knowledge required to recognize threats and implement effective security practices in modern digital environments.

This program is designed for individuals with little or no prior experience in information technology or cybersecurity who are interested in understanding cybersecurity challenges and solutions. Learners will explore key cybersecurity concepts, processes, tools, and strategies through practical examples and hands-on learning activities that build real-world skills.
 
The course covers essential topics such as authorization, authentication, encryption, firewalls, threat detection, safe computing practices, and ingredients of a robust cybersecurity architecture. Participants will learn how to protect applications, networks, and organizational data while gaining insight into how organizations prepare for and respond to cybersecurity incidents. In addition, learners will explore cybersecurity career paths, professional roles, and the qualifications required to enter the field.
 
Applied learning is a central component of the course. Learners will engage in hands-on exercises involving network ports and protocols, network troubleshooting, system updates, antivirus software installation, firewall configuration, and browser privacy management. They will also practice configuring secure networks and researching cybersecurity job requirements, helping them begin developing their professional resume and portfolio for future career opportunities in cybersecurity.
